Editorial Headshots for Fanfare Ceremonies

I photograph Fan from Fanfare Ceremonies several times a year as part of our Creative Partnership, but this particular shoot came about because she had a very specific little gap in her image library.

As her profile in the luxury wedding world has grown, she’s increasingly being asked to contribute to wedding planners’ blogs, PR pieces and features — all brilliant, except they invariably come with the words “and can you send us a headshot?”

So Fan booked onto one of my Brand Photography Days in Bristol to create a collection specifically for that purpose. We wanted them to feel really clean and simple, but still have that polished, editorial quality that works beautifully with where her brand is heading.

We shot on both white and black backgrounds, playing with different crops, expressions and compositions so that she came away with far more variety than you might expect from something as seemingly straightforward as a headshot.

And, as always, it was a brilliant, bonkers, funny session. We know each other so well, she trusts me, I know what works for her and we can get straight down to creating rather than spending half the session getting comfortable with each other.

This wasn't about creating another enormous library of brand photography. Fan already has that. It was about spotting what was missing and creating exactly what she needed to fill the gap.

Sometimes that’s all a really good brand photography session needs to do.
