In my eyes, the world is bursting at the seams with so many talented, inspiring, experienced professional wedding photographers whose work I greatly admire. But sadly it remains the case that in contrast, there are lots of not so talented or professional people out there too – and it’s a costly mistake to discover on your wedding day or worse still thereafter.
I still hear words like Sophie and Rich’s too often, even after all these years, and it makes my heart a little heavy.
It is for this very reason that I will always take time to get to know my clients, share my practice, and conduct a detailed consultation (perhaps even more than one) throughout my journey with them. No. Stone. Un-turned. Paramount.
Your wedding day deserves nothing but the best – and I urge everyone to investigate and invest in the best suppliers they can afford for such an important milestone in their lives. It really will be worth every penny – I promise.
Why we wish we’d booked…an experienced photographer
“Whilst we loved our photographers as people, on the day of our wedding we felt like everything was at risk, we became guinea pigs all day; test subjects for them to experiment (slowly!!) and learn the tricks of the trade.
We knew from the beginning that they weren’t overly experienced, but they convinced us they knew what they were doing, and we really liked them, so we decided that we’d still go ahead, and the price was too good to be true.
But having moments of our precious day – our wedding day – wasted whilst they tried to set up everything they needed to capture what we’d asked for (which we found out afterwards they didn’t manage) and worse still, dragging us around to get images that we didn’t ask for so they could boost their portfolio, and all of this taking so much time away from us being able to enjoy our guests and our wedding arrangements, and delaying the schedule by miles, wasn’t something we had thought through – we were left so unbelievably disappointed, and there’s no going back now”.
