Victoria & Kevin’s Wedding Pre-shoot
And love will hold us together
make us a shelter in the storm
One of the things I absolutely adore about being a wedding photographer, is entering a family’s life for just a small snippet of time and finding out about their personal journey. An engagement shoot is a perfect time to for me to really get to know a couple and such a privilege as people share their stories, hopes, dreams, trials and tribulations with me. They share what they’ve been through as a couple, what they’ve overcome, and they share everything that’s made them strong together and more united. And once you’ve been through things like that with one person surely you know you can survive anything in your marriage together.
Victoria & Kevin are no exception, in their time as a couple they’ve been through some incredibly remarkable periods requiring them to be very strong. Changing them as people, working together and living life with a positive and can-do attitude. It was this unwavering strength I saw in front of me on the sea front at their engagement shoot at Lyme Regis in Devon when the heavens opened..
It. Was. Tipping. It. Down.
The wind was howling and bitterly cold, we met in a lovely cosy pub for a coffee and a delicious hand baked biscuit and ran through plans for their wedding day. Whilst being a laid back twosome, Kevin & Victoria also have immense attention to detail, understanding what I needed as their wedding photographer, not only to capture their big day perfectly but ultimately make it a right fit for them.
Off we headed out to battle the elements! They were so determined to have photographs on The Cobb in Lyme Regis and even though they got blown and battered about by the wind (without coats I might add – there I was in a bobble hat and big ski jacket!) I managed to get some gorgeous pre-wedding pictures. Stood there watching the two of them and thinking of their back story made me feel so humbled not only to be capturing their pre-shoot but also their wedding day!
Wedding pre-shoots or engagement shoots, really are the best way to anchor that first chapter of your wedding journey as a couple. The chance to celebrate your engagement, and of course it’s a wonderful way of getting used to working with your photographer, in readiness to do it all again and take it your stride on your wedding day.
We had fun, we had laughter, they rocked it, we conquered the weather, didn’t let anything get us down and I think that’s how Victoria and Kevin will spend the rest of their lives.
P.S. Watch this space for their wedding story, where I got to tick off an item from my photography bucket list!
