What get’s you out of bed in the morning?
Charlie my 5 year old son – he’s a busy boy, an early riser 7 days a week, and always wakes me with the biggest and most innocent smile, usually closely followed by a request to build something bonkers like a space or pirate ship, or be Captain Hook and he’ll be Peter Pan!
What do you love most about your role at VNHQ?
As a marketeer I crave the picture perfect stunning imagery to marry with my missions and strengthen a campaign for us or for our clients. Working with Venetia means I have access to an image library that is always full of beautiful content, each with it’s own story to tell.
What gives you an extra spring in your step in the studio?
The personal journeys we are lucky enough to witness. I am an absolute sucker for people, the light in their eyes, the love in their hearts, the air that they breathe, the family they share their life with, their story. Gazing through a suite of images that pans through time, watching a family grow, a new life begin – it gets me every time. Perhaps it’s because I’m a mother myself! If you’d asked me this question 5 years ago, I’m sure my answer would have been it’s all about the shiny stuff, which don’t get me wrong I love that too, but for me now it’s the people, each and every one of them.
What is your favourite product from Venetia’s new collection, and why?
It has to be the birch sphere. I love that it’s a circle (visit my house and you’ll see that I am obsessed with this shape in all it’s formats). I also adore the heavy weight quality of the craftsmanship, the wood, the way the image sits on the surface, and the fact that it is unique, special, different. On a wall it is so striking – absolutely perfect for a hero image from a wedding, or to commemorate the bond of family love, or for that much loved fur baby too!
Digital or Print, Wall Art or Album, and why?
Ah, now this is a tricky one!! I have an appreciation and big love for all formats here, but if I had to choose one, it would be an album.
There is something so precious about the Jorgensen piece, and having seen Venetia’s collections come to life through client commissions, I never fail to draw breath each time a new album arrives at the studio. The custom design is exquisite, and the images combined by Venetia reflect the beauty of the souls within – it’s a powerful, emotive, story telling, future family heirloom. If I had the personal budget my shelves at home would be filled with albums!
List three things that people may not know about you.
Ok, so I can play many musical instruments, from the drums to the alto sax, and before settling down a little to have a family, you would often find me playing and singing with lots of different bands and groups – music has been a huge part of my life. I sang with the band at my wedding!
I cannot cope with tea – everything about it, from the texture of tea bags, to the smell and the taste! Don’t ask… You know, when you know!
I worked in nursing, and publishing, before settling into marketing and the wonderful world of weddings where I’ve stayed for the last 15 years, for I love everything about it.
List your top three desert island must haves.
My son, oh and my husband when he’s not on the naughty step!
Good coffee
My phone – mainly for the music and connectivity
Your favourite drink.
Coffee by day, gin by night!
Your favourite supper
I like clean simple food – lemon sole, lots of fresh greens, crusty bread, home made tartare sauce – yum!
Your favourite place
Home – ask anyone and they’ll tell you I’ve become a real home bird in the last few years, especially since becoming a mummy! It’s my nest, my haven, my safe place.
What is your studio secret weapon?
My writing style, and probably my demeanour – I am always thinking creatively, and behaving honestly, professionally yet passionately, and I believe people warm to me because of this. I am often told people can hear me in my writing and my contributions to the future gazing we are so lucky to do here at team VN.
What is exciting you about the future at VNHQ
Lots – but in the main, what excites me the most is the fact that there is no limit to what we can achieve as team of women who are all so so fortunate to be doing a job that we love, supporting one another, yet all the while working within an evergreen and ever changing industry. No two days or clients the same – it keeps the energy flowing and the heart pumping!
